Critically acclaimed New Zealand songstress Kimbra has just released her brand new single ‘Everybody Knows’.
The song heralds the arrival of her anxiously awaited third full-length album, Primal Heart, produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, the Roots, Erykah Badu) and due out early 2018.
‘Everybody Knows’ shifts from a hum of ethereal production into xylophone percussion and a whirlwind of electronic melodies as her voice transfixes at every turn, building from breathy to bombastic. The 80s-style beat leads into an unforgettable chant, “Now the whole world’s watching you.”
Kimbra has quietly spent the past two years assembling the 11 tracks of the forthcoming album with hit-machine Skrillex (‘Top of the World’), among other producers in Los Angeles and New Zealand. Stripping down Kimbra’s music to bare emotion and heart, the album invites listeners to experience the inherent vulnerability in her voice, conveying raw feeling throughout each song.
Kimbra’s voice seeped into the hearts and minds of listeners around the globe in 2012 when she dueted with Gotye on the inescapable quadruple-platinum smash ‘Somebody That I Used to Know,’ which garnered “Record of the Year” and “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” at the 2013 GRAMMY® Awards.
She confidently stepped into the spotlight on her second full-length, THE GOLDEN ECHO, earning acclaim from Paste, Los Angeles Times, Spin, Consequence of Sound and more.
