Waiheke Island resident blues/country outfit Aaron Carpenter & The Revelators are pleased to announce the release of their self-titled E.P. - out Friday November 13th.
While The Band had the infamous Big Pink, The Revelators workshopped, rehearsed and recorded all songs in an 120 year old barn affectionately known as ‘El Barno’, the perfect environment to disappear and focus on writing whilst simultaneously being inspired by the natural surroundings.
The E.P. was tracked, engineered, mixed & mastered by Daryl Tapsell of Blackdoor Studios. Recorded live, the songs retain the raw electric energy of a live performance from the opening 70’s blues rock track ‘Never Hungry Long’ to the gentler electric country ballad ‘Stranger’.
Of his songs, front man Carpenter says "It was Steve Earle who said “Lonely is a temporary condition and Lonesome is an incurable, terminal hole in your heart you could drive a semi-truck through”. I took him at his word and my life over the last 12 years has been etched in every nuance of these songs. I didn't release the E.P. to just 'get some songs out', I released them to rid me of my demons."
The Revelators are:
Aaron Carpenter - guitar and vocals
Miles Gillet - Drums
Lee Catlin - Bass
Derek Solomon - electric guitar
Sophia Faalogo, Nikki Ngatai and Mervena McLelland on backing vocals
Glenn Campbell Ross - pedal steel on 'Stranger" , "The Hardest Thing" and electric pedal steel on "Pony"
The Aaron Carpenter and The Revelators E.P. is now available for purchase at iTunes, Amplifier and all good digital outlets with Physical copies available at future shows. (Dec 10th at Q Theatre, Dec 28th at Leigh Sawmill)
